Laura is lost. Her balance, her routine and her cat have all disappeared but young Charlie might be her way out. Driving from bar to bar, they look for her escape. But her demons may catch her first. ""Fish" is about memories, and how they shape us. They give us a context for our lives, but they can also haunt us. Some memories can paralyze us with fear. Laura is haunted by a memory and by guilt. She is stuck in a moment in the past, unable to move forwards or back. "Fish" is less abstract than our previous festival work, but it has a dreamlike quality that all Core work shares." -Elizabeth Ware, Director Core Performance Manufactory produces work that combines poetic text, music and movement. We tell our stories using those three "languages." The text, music and movement each have their own logic. By approaching the work using symbolic "dream" language, we hope to communicate with the audience on a primal, instinctual level, rather than on a purely intellectual one. |
