CARA MIA THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS

EL PRESIDENTE Y LA MÁSCARA DE ORO

By Danny Daniels
Directed by David Lozano
Featuring original music by Lance Lopez

The celebrations surrounding the death of El Presidente and the dawning of La Nueva Era have stormed from Mexico City to the provinces as the president’s corpse is paraded through village after village. But El Presidente continues to haunt mankind and lives in a nether region of starving phantoms and verdant landscapes in search of La Máscara de Oro.

Among the people, the president has become a vicious symbol of terror as parents tell their sleepy-eyed children that if they misbehave, El Presidente will take them away into the night to cities of rabid dogs, lost gardens and hidden stairwells leading underground, leaving behind oranges and golden masks.

Danny Daniels is a local writer whose short stories and poetry have been published in various national publications. "El Presidente y La Máscara de Oro" is his fourth play and first to be developed with Cara Mia Theatre Company.

David Lozano was recently named the Interim Artistic Director of Cara Mia Theatre Company, where he has worked in a variety of positions over the past few years. Other theater companies David has worked with include The Dallas Theater Center, The Dallas Children’s Theater, Our Endeavors, The Shakespeare Festival of Dallas and Teatro Dallas among others.
David was trained at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, with Fred Curchack at the University of Texas at Dallas and with Jeff Farrell with the YogaStudio.

Lance Lopez recently returned from a tour through Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands with his blues group, The Lance Lopez Band. Experienced in all styles of guitar including jazz, experimental and rock, he has played with renowned artists such as ex-Jimi Hendrix drummer Buddy Miles, singer Johnny Taylor and guitarist/keyboard-player Lucky Peterson.
In 1998, he released his debut album "1st things First". In 1999, Lance was voted winner of the Southeastern Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition.
