A man seeking to woo a married actress, by returning a dog that does not belong to her, is mistaken by her for a murderer who stabs his victims with pruning shears, even though his undergarments are nothing like the killer's. Add to that a jealous husband with a penchant for enemas, a gullible lover and a greengrocer who moonlights as a police captain, and you have forty-five minutes of non-stop laughter from the acknowledged master of French farce. Georges Feydeau is one of the only French farceurs to actually be remembered beyond his death. His craftsmanship, wit and intuitive flair for the comic have now given him a popularity, both in France and abroad, bordering on adulation. Today his plays (comedies, vaudevilles, farces - call them what you will) are always being performed somewhere. Director, Nathan Cole obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington and his MFA from Texas Women's University. Having acted and directed in the Metroplex for over nine years, he teaches and directs regularly at KD Studios in Dallas. Bucket focuses its theatrical efforts on the classics. In a world in which "Performance Art" and "Alternative Theater" abound, Bucket is committed to celebrating the rich literary, historical and theatrical heritage that preceded the rise of contemporary theater. |
