Opening Reception With the Artists:

Sunday, April 6, 2003 – 6-8 PM

The five elements of nature, Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Ether are depicted in the works of 38 local artists in this invitational exhibit.

Elemental features a variety of works that include literal representations and conceptual pieces that attempt to capture the essence of the elements.
Included in the show are paintings, photographs, sculpture and installation and mixed media art.

This exhibition is presented as a celebration of Earth Day and was curated by Enrique Fernández Cervantes.

AN OPENING RECEPTION WITH THE ARTISTS will take place on Sunday, April 6, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. This reception will include a special meditation session entitled "Meditation of the Five Elements of Ancient Knowledge," based on a metaphysical text written and conducted by artist J R COMPTON. There will also be a special presentation by FABIANA FEDLALA. Ms. Fedlala is an accomplished dancer, choreographer and performance artist from Paraguay. She studied at the National Institute of Dance of Cuba and has performed at Teatro Colón in Argentina, the National Theater of Cuba and at Ballet Arlington. Ms. Fedlala will interpret, through dance, the five elements of nature. More specifically, she will interpret and "become a part" of The Elements and I, and art installation created by Arlington artist Amalia Elmasri. Ms. Elmasri also designed the costumes for Ms. Fedlala.
