Entry qualifiers are as follows:
- Submitting companies must be independent theatre companies. (Producing company must not have ownership or management control of a theatrical performance space, including educational institutions).
- Producing organization must have produced at least two prior productions.
- Organizations must be based in or execute the majority of the companies’ performances in Dallas County.
- Scripts must be less than one hour in performance time.
- Prior productions a company has produced in the past FIVE (5) years will not be accepted. Produced staged readings will be considered as long as not previously produced in a festival format.
- Submissions will be considered on the condition of the script at the time of submittal deadline.
- At least one producing member of the submitting organization must be available to attend a festival orientation on March 18th 2008 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm
The tenth annual Festival of Independent Theatres (FIT 10) will open July 17, 2008 and run through August 9, 2008.
Deadline for submissions: Friday, February 29, 2008 (6 PM)
Submissions must be received by the deadline.
Late submissions will not be considered.
Submission Format Guidelines:
Festival submissions should be kept as succinct as possible and include the following information:
COVER LETTER / EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
- Provide a brief summary of your organization and the proposed production.
- Provide an explanation why you think this particular production works well for FIT.
- Provide how this production helps to promote the mission of your organization.
PRODUCING ORGANIZATION
- Provide your mission statement.
- Provide your organizational status. (Profit, Texas non-profit, 501(c)3, etc.)
- Provide a brief organizational history and a history of previous productions.
- Provide a brief vision statement for the future of your organization.
THE PRODUCTION & ITS HISTORY
- Provide a brief summary of the script itself.
- Provide a brief summary of your organizations vision for the realization of this work in the Festival of Independent Theatre’s format.
- Will the production include any of the following?
- Material unsuited for children
- Nudity
- Animals
- Pyrotechnics (including candles)
- Firearms
- Atmospheric effects
- Stage blood
- Food / drink
- Has your organization produced this production previously in any form?
- To your knowledge, has this production been produced by any organization in the Dallas area within the past 5 years?
CONTACT INFORMATION
- Please provide us with full organizational contact information including mailing address, phone/voice numbers, E-mail, Website, etc.
- Please provide contact information on at least one key organizational representative including work phone, home phone, and E-mail address.
The following should be included in your submission:
- FIVE (5) hard copies of your proposal
- ONE (1) copy of supporting information such as press reviews, photos, marketing materials, etc.
- THREE (3) copies of script

Or packets may be hand delivered to staff at the Bath House Cultural Center during regular Center hours
(Tuesday-Saturday, 12-6 PM).
- A committee consisting of Performing Arts Initiative members and advisors, Bath House Cultural Center staff, and City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs staff will consider and rate the submissions.
- Accepted Submissions will be announced by Monday, March 10th 2008.
- Please remember that at least one producing member of the accepted organization must be available to attend a festival orientation on March, 18th 2008 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at the Bath House Cultural Center.
